Michael's Side of the Story
Charlotte's Side of the Story

I knew Charlotte was going to be a permanent part of my life from the very beginning. We met through a friend in high school. She was full of love and strength and for that I admired her. And although we didn’t start dating until later, I always felt very close to her. I could tell her things that I couldn’t tell anyone else; her home felt like my home. We even went to our high school prom together. After she started going to college in Boston, our years of chemistry turned into romance. Some of our best days were spent in Boston, and it became an important part of our life. Being with her, I was exposed to new perspectives, cuisine, experiences. They were all special because she was with me. After I bought her engagement ring, I took her back to Boston. We visited familiar places, had a wonderful meal and shared memories together. At the end of the day, we stopped at Boston Public Garden. It’s an important place to us. It’s a beautiful, tranquil place where we could let go and be at peace and enjoy each other. There’s a white bridge overlooking the lake in the middle of the park. When we got to the middle, I had a stranger take a few pictures of us embracing each other against the skyline. Then I told him to take one more picture as I got down on one knee to propose to her. I enjoyed seeing her completely surprised, which was exactly the reaction I was looking for. She said yes, and now she’ll be a part of my life forever.

Sometimes you just know…I just knew there was something special about Mike, not the first day we met, (because let’s face it, life is not a romantic comedy), but nevertheless I knew he was special and I wanted him to be part of my life. In high school, we grew to be close friends and even went to prom together. I admired Michael for his confidence, strength, and resilience. He was never concerned about others opinions of him, he always did what he felt was right. I knew we had a special connection when we sat together during our study hall and talked for hours not realizing the school day had ended. He had missed his bus and I was very late to play rehearsal. When we graduated, our lives took different paths, but we always stayed close. It was in Boston that we fell in love and our relationship progressed. Mike spent several years taking the long trek back and forth from Connecticut to Boston to see me on the weekends. Our times in Boston are some of our best memories. Mike has truly been there for me in the toughest of times as a friend and a partner. He loves me unconditionally and is my rock. Everything came full circle when we returned to Boston and visited our favorite places. In true Mike style (he has mastered looking like there is no plan when there is a plan all along) he surprised me in the Boston Public garden in my favorite city on the bridge with a rose ring specifically designed for me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
